GSM BASED EXAM RESULTS ACQUISITION SYSTEM FROM SERVER DATABASE

Abstract :

A GSM modem provides the communication interface. It transports device protocols transparently over the network through a serial interface. A GSM modem is a wireless modem that works with a GSM wireless network. This GSM Modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and act just like a mobile phone with its own unique phone number. Advantage of using this modem will be that you can use its RS232 port to communicate and develop embedded applications. Applications like SMS Control, data transfer, remote control and logging can be developed easily. The modem can either be connected to PC serial port directly or to any microcontroller.

          This project is designed to acquire the results from the database through GSM. As in general, everyone waits for looking the results when a university results are released. The results may be attained in different ways like forwarding to particular institutions or printing in news papers etc., it is the late process to view the results even though results are released. To avoid those delay process we have implemented this project to attain results from database through GSM.

          This project includes software which is front-end developed in PC(C#.NET). The software is provided with the student results database. It also includes a GSM modem interfaced with microcontroller which sends the data message received from the mobile to database. In this project, student has to send the Roll No. through message to GSM modem which it contains a SIM card. When the student send message with his Roll No. to the database it replies a message with results to particular registers mobile numbers. A 16X2 LCD will be interfaced to the controller  to display the marks.

               This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer.
