RFID – BASED ANIMAL TRACKING SYSTEM

The RFID – Based Animal Tracking System is an embedded solution designed to identify, monitor, and manage animals using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Each animal is fitted with an RFID tag, typically attached as an ear tag or collar. When the tag enters the reading range of an RFID reader, the unique identification number is captured and linked to the animal’s stored records, including health history, vaccination schedules, breeding information, and ownership details. RFID systems automate identification and improve record accuracy for livestock management.

System Configuration

The complete system consists of the following hardware modules:

These components work together to identify animals and maintain digital records.

Working Process

The RFID animal tracking system performs the following operations:

  1. An RFID tag containing a unique identification number is attached to the animal.
  2. When the animal passes near the RFID reader, the tag is detected automatically.
  3. The reader sends the tag ID to the microcontroller.
  4. The controller verifies the animal’s identification record.
  5. Animal information is displayed on the LCD or computer screen.
  6. Attendance, movement, health, or feeding records are updated.
  7. The data is stored in a local or cloud database for future reference.
